It really isn’t Christmas time without a healthy dose of Capra. It’s the annual airing of his 1946 classic ‘It’s a wonderful Life’ that always makes for a festive treat at Christmas time. It’s hard to imagine a time that the film wasn’t a holiday staple, but indeed, there was such a time. The film, in fact was not considered a success until when, in the early 70’s the copyright expired (due to some clerical error) and the film lapsed into public domain. Thereby allowing any network to pick it up and air it as many times as they so chose. Which, of course, they did, without as much as a penny going to Capra himself.
Merry Christmas indeed.
Anything guys can do, girls can do better. Or in this case, just as well.
Frank Capra didn’t think that Donna Reed was skillful or strong enough to throw the stone into the window at Granville house, so he hired a professional marksman to shoot the stone on cue. However, during her take, Donna threw the stone perfectly and it hit its mark.
It's been said that the Sesame Street characters of Bert and Ernie were named after the cop and the cab driver from this film.
