Well, it’s definitely not starring in a low budget slasher flick starring a group of virtual nobodies. Word is that the producers only gave the lead role of Alice to Adrienne King because they couldn’t persuade Miss Field to take the part.

When jazz musician Henry Manfredini was hired to score the film, he was told by director Sean Cunningham that he wanted a sort of chorus playing throughout parts of the film. Manfredini was stumped, until he decided to simply take his cue from the film itself. Using the very words that Mrs. Voorhees says near the end of the film “Kill her Mommy, kill her”, Manfredini recorded his own voice repeating the “Ki” and the “Ma” sections and used that as the effectively eerie chorus throughout the film.

The highest grossing of all the Friday the 13th films, it earned 37.465 million dollars domestically, ensuring that the franchise would live on and on and on…and on.
