There's a rumour that the cast were unaware about what was going to happen to John Hurt's character when they filmed the now famous 'birth by exploding stomach' scene in Alien. It is said that the horrifying reaction the cast displayed in the scene was due to their own real shock and dismay. Yet, Hollywood loves to create it's own mythology. In actual fact, while the cast members weren't witness to what exactly the alien was going to look like, they were aware of what the scene entailed. So the looks of terror on the cast members faces?
