I guess it's easy to 'Die hard' when you get paid. Bruce Willis, a virtual film unknown, was paid a staggering 5 million dollars to make Die Hard. Sure, it's chump change in today's 25 million dollar salary range, but back in 1988 it was a pretty penny. Pretty indeed.
The newly built 20th Century Fox plaza in L.A was the setting for the Nakatomi building in the movie, and I would wager that the scene where the building gets 'all blowed up' was especially meaningful for the director.
