Did you know that Mike Myers was not the original choice for the lovable Ogre named Shrek. In fact another lovable 'larger than life' actor was chosen and even recorded the dialogue for the film, but died shortly after the film's animation process had commenced. That actor was Chris Farley. A long time friend and former SNL castmate, Mike Myers then agreed to voice the role.
The film holds the honor of winning the first Best Animated picture Academy Award in 2002.
